We usually get this error when we update from ubuntu14.04 LTS to Ubuntu16.04 LTS.

After we have upgraded our os but some old files entries still remains in file which was suppose to be upgraded but now after upgrade it is not required.

As it is clearly saying that it is getting ignored. Hence just remove it.

$ cd /etc/apt/apt.conf.d
$ ls

this will give result soemthing like this

00aptitude    01autoremove          01-vendor-ubuntu  15update-stamp  20dbus       50unattended-upgrades                70debconf
00trustcdrom  01autoremove-kernels  10periodic        20archive       50appstream  50unattended-upgrades.ucf-old         99update-notifier

Now, Simply

$ sudo rm 50unattended-upgrades.ucf-old

Check once again now and error will be gone.
